‘Home From Home’ 2025. Peter Hudson, Yinka Danmole and Halina Edwards’ artistic concept for the community-focused project on the Old Kent Road bridge.

After an intense series of public participation including supper clubs, schools workshops, lighting workshops in care homes and conversations with the community in Southwick, the concepts of ‘ A Home From Home’ and ‘Not Any Old Road’ was developed.

The Old Kent Road as a vibrant and diverse mix of communities and cultures. One way they come together is by food . Food means home no matter where you are, food reminds us of our families and our memories, food is to be shared and friendships made. The fruit stickers brought the idea that the many different independent food establishments and gathering places are like food to the soul.

These important places are celebrated in the form of fruit stickers - joyful, bright and as unique as the Old Kent road has always been.
